This is the first of a few mini paintings I am going to do for a show in Illinois in June. I have a half dozen great photographs from this meadow alone, time to turn these into some good paintings.

I've been struggling with a painting of a river bend for over a month now, so I decided to go back to what I do well just to get my bearings again. I've wanted to do a painting of cottonwood because of the character a cottonwood has on it's bark. Recently had a big Redtail stalking the bird feeder recently too, so it is a natural addition to this late fall scene. Now back to my river bend!

My favorite tree to paint is the American Beech. It has so much character, and keeps it's leaves very late into the fall. This painting is an experiment for a bigger painting.

The same Christmas morning drive produced another phot I worked off. The sun was just peeking through on the horizon and highlighted a snow covered hedge row.
