Christmas time 2009 I went for a drive out into the country near Danville Illinois. I saw a hawk in this neat Shagbark hickories near the side of the road on a snowy foggy day. The hawk flew away before I could photograph it. I had intended on adding the redtail to this painting. But the painting seemed to drift well without the added subject, so I left the hawk out.
